Our narrative took a thrilling turn in the late 19th century when the Oliver Springs Hotel, a grand 150-room resort, made our town a nationally recognized retreat. The arrival of the railroad opened new pathways for visitors, propelling Oliver Springs into a vibrant epoch of prosperity and elegance.

As the 20th century dawned, our town embraced a new energy - coal. The Windrock Coal and Coke Company began operations around 1904, drawing a new wave of residents and shaping a hardworking, close-knit community. Our resilience was further tested and proven during World War II, as our neighborhoods played a pivotal role in the Manhattan Project.

The 90s brought Hollywood to our doorstep with the filming of the movie "October Sky," sprinkling a dash of stardom on our history. However, Oliver Springs' most exciting chapter might just be its current one. Today, we're home to the largest privately owned off-road facility in the United States, Coal Creek OHV on Windrock Mountain. This attraction has brought a resurgence of energy to our town, painting our future with strokes of adventure and camaraderie.
